Lily is 9! | Minneapolis Children’s Photographer

December 18, 2012

I’m bummed about the delay in getting this blog post published.  Personal blog posts always fall to the wayside during my busy fall season don’t they?. I wanted to get this out in August… I’m only 4 months late. HA!  My daughter is not a typical photographer’s child.  She LOVES being in front the camera and looks forward to her annual birthday photo session every year. She chooses her own hairstyle and outfits. This year, she even chose the location and styles.  She wanted it to be “playful urban hip hop”.  Her words. For reals.

When she turned 9 this summer, I remember thinking, “How did she get so old so fast?” I know it’s cliche, but time really does go fast when you’re raising a child.  I see so much of me in her both physically and emotionally. I’m incredibly proud of the young woman she has become.  I love her with all my heart and soul.  She is witty, thoughtful, musical, friendly, happy, smart, loving, empathetic, helpful, silly, snuggly, warm, and last, but definitely not least… BEAUTIFUL.

Lily, you are my sunshine.

See? Here are pictures from her 9-year photo session this summer to prove it.

Sexy Photos for Valentine’s Day | Minneapolis Boudoir Photographer

November 29, 2012

The holidays are almost here and that means Valentine’s Day is around the corner. I’m hosting a private boudoir event on Saturday, January 19th and Sunday, January 20th at a special discounted rate.  Your mate will adore the photos of you and you will feel like a super model! It’s a wonderful experience that all women regardless of age or size should do.  Continue reading for MY STORY…

sexy, beautiful, sensual, boudoir, in-studio

I had my very own boudoir session a little over a year ago and don’t regret it for a second.  Although I was anxious about my 30something, post-kid, curvy body being photographed, I gathered a few outfits outfits and props and made my way to the studio.  Getting my hair and makeup done was super fun – I felt like a celebrity with people fawning over me and making me beautiful. When it came time to see the photos, I gasped in excitement and wonder at the beauty of the images that were ME. The breathtaking images continue to be a self-confidence boost when I sneak peeks at the images. In the vein of being transparent, here is one of my photos taken by the wonderful Erin Benner of Angelicjewel Photography.

I hope my story gives you courage to contact me for one of my sessions in January!

What a difference a year can make! | Personal

April 1, 2011

Last year on this day, I started the next chapter of my life. I chose me. I chose my family. I chose my life. I left my full-time corporate job and leapt, yes LEAPT, into my photography business. I was overwhelmed by the support from my friends, family and colleagues… YOU.

Fast forward 12 months, 90 photo sessions, and hundreds of clients… I am so proud of how far I have come both professionally and artistically.

Have I been scared? Of course.

Was I ever nervous about making ends meet? Yes.

Have I questioned my decision? NO.

I worked harder. I dug deeper. I learned more. I set goals and I conquered them.  The bottom line was: I trusted myself as a savvy business owner and stayed true to my personal beliefs and ethics.

2011 has been a great year so far and it’s only getting better. The great leap of faith is not finished. I am still leaping.

A Morning at Como Zoo | Personal

April 19, 2010

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be outside and we took full advantage of it by going to the Como Zoo and Conservatory. I hold a special place in my heart for zoos, particularly the Como Zoo, because of my love for animals, but also because it’s such a happy place. Kids are excited to see what the next animal will be, Dad’s are carrying children on their shoulders, popcorn and cotton candy are available for purchase, and so on.

Lily and I decided to be “the cool kids” with our sunglasses and boy did we need them – it was bright and sunny! I can’t wait to go there again. The polar bear exhibit reopens the first week of June!

Grandfather and Granddaughter | Personal

March 28, 2010

There is nothing like the bond between a father and a daughter… except the bond between a grandfather and a granddaughter. My father has lived across the country from me for as long as I can remember, but every time we’re together, it’s special. This weekend’s visit was no exception because I was able to watch my father and my daughter interact with such love and grace. AND I took pictures to document it. Here is a collage of photos from my most memorable photo session in the studio to date.

Dad’s Visit – Day 1 | Personal

March 26, 2010

Dad has come for a quick visit from New York City. I’m so grateful that Lily was able to spend some time with her Grandpa. Here are a few photos from our fun evening yesterday. We went to the park then watched Snow White before heading to dreamland.

Professional Headshots | Business

February 22, 2010

The beautiful and wonderful Erica Loeks and I had a fun photo session last weekend and took the following photos of me. I have to say, it was rather nerve-wracking taking the photos. I’m not used to being on the other side of the camera! They turned out beautiful and I am proud to share them with you. Happy Monday!

Kelly Moore Bag | Personal

February 18, 2010

I am excited beyond words to announce that I have in my possession a beautiful and purple Kelly Moore Bag. Kelly Moore is a photographer from Louisiana who has created a very stylish yet extremely functional camera bag for super awesome photographers like me! 🙂

Skating! | Personal

February 13, 2010

Santa was good to Lily this year and delivered her first set of figure skates. She was so excited to get out and use them, but Mama had to find hers first. They were hiding, but we found them and trekked down to the neighborhood park for some skating lessons. She did great and Nana Hanna came to document the day. What fun we had!

Puppy Love | Twin Cities Children and Family Photographer

February 6, 2010

This little sweetheart was a guest at my Grandmother’s 92nd birthday party last weekend. She is the daughter of my 4th cousin so I think she’s my 5th cousin? Honestly, when it gets that far removed, who’s keeping track? We’re family – plain and simple.

Chloe, a beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel pup, was visiting from her hometown of Ely, MN and they became fast friends. I captured this series of photos during their delightful interaction.
