Baby Kara was only 10 days old when I had the opportunity to meet her. She is such a beautiful and precious girl!. I couldn’t resist snuggling with her before we started her newborn photo session. Her parents, Keith and Jamie, are dear life-long friends of mine – I was honored they wanted me to capture beautiful images of their first-born daughter. Kara was a champ through it all and was very cooperative with all of the clothing changes. Here are a few sneak peaks.
The beautiful and wonderful Erica Loeks and I had a fun photo session last weekend and took the following photos of me. I have to say, it was rather nerve-wracking taking the photos. I’m not used to being on the other side of the camera! They turned out beautiful and I am proud to share them with you. Happy Monday!
I am excited beyond words to announce that I have in my possession a beautiful and purple Kelly Moore Bag. Kelly Moore is a photographer from Louisiana who has created a very stylish yet extremely functional camera bag for super awesome photographers like me! 🙂
Santa was good to Lily this year and delivered her first set of figure skates. She was so excited to get out and use them, but Mama had to find hers first. They were hiding, but we found them and trekked down to the neighborhood park for some skating lessons. She did great and Nana Hanna came to document the day. What fun we had!
Spring is almost here and Easter is right around the corner. I had an absolutely amazing time during these boudoir sessions last month. My awesome clients (thank you, ladies!!!) have graciously given me permission to post some of the photos from that unforgettable Saturday night at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN.
The Boardroom Suite was a perfect backdrop for boudoir photos. I added some scented candles, soothing music and, of course, champagne! I loved watching the ladies’ confidence grow as the session went on. I’m so glad I could show them truly how beautiful they really are.

This little sweetheart was a guest at my Grandmother’s 92nd birthday party last weekend. She is the daughter of my 4th cousin so I think she’s my 5th cousin? Honestly, when it gets that far removed, who’s keeping track? We’re family – plain and simple.
Chloe, a beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel pup, was visiting from her hometown of Ely, MN and they became fast friends. I captured this series of photos during their delightful interaction.
I have super exciting news, friends! I have joined forces with a band of talented photographers to open 6th Avenue Studios, a photography studio co-op, on Main Street in Hopkins, MN. The space is beautiful and has lots of potential for all types of photo sessions including newborn, children, maternity, engagement, headshots, and families.
The best parts about the space are:
(1) it’s available to all clients of Jessica Barker Photography
(2) it has natural light streaming in from several windows
(3) it’s centrally located in the near western suburbs of Minneapolis
The studio is officially available to all clients starting March 1st. I cannot believe how far I have come in just over a month. My dreams are becoming a reality right before my eyes and it’s the most amazing feeling. I’ve asked for a studio space like this for about a year and BOOM here it is.
I look forward to using the space to capture amazing photographs and hope you will join me at our Grand Opening Open House tentatively scheduled in April. More to come on that…
